Ray & Georgia moved into a new home in late 2002.  Having a 500-gallon tank, they tried to buy around the supply and demand peaks of the winters of 2002-2003 and 2003-2004, but the winter demand was too high.  They knew there had to be a better way of purchasing propane.  They were wasting too much time shopping for prices and trying to anticipate when to buy around the peaks, and the winter consumption was so great that they were paying premium prices because everyone's propane was high during the winter, and they had to carefully read about special prices that had gimmicks, as well as hazmat and delivery fees.

For the winter of 2004-2005, they had a plan.  They called several of their friends and asked them to allow them to negotiate their propane price for the winter;  all readily agreed.  They contacted several propane companies about locking in a winter price for the 5 of them as a group, and the Propane Club was born.

Ray soon retired due to health, but Georgia continues to operate the Propane Club and negotiate the best possible price for club members.
